CMA back Cohuna Farmers and Makers Market

The future of the Cohuna Farmers and Makers Market has been given a boost, with 12-month sponsorship support from the North Central Catchment Management Authority.

The popular market is held in Garden Park on the fourth Sunday of each month, and showcases the produce and wares of local farmers and small businesses.

The market has had a rejuvenation of late, and Manager Sarah Mostyn said the sponsorship will help that growth continue.

“This sponsorship really benefits the market for the community. Rather than just covering costs, we can now turn our mind to making the market bigger and better,” she said.

“We can start to think about how to grow the market for the businesses and the community of Cohuna and surrounding areas.

“It means we can start planning to do things we have always wanted to do.”

North Central CMA Program Delivery Executive Manager Rachel Murphy said the CMA values local community input to projects and programs in the area and this was opportunity for the CMA to give back to the community by throwing its support behind the not-for-profit market.

“This is a much-loved event in town, and it has benefits far beyond the market itself,” she said.

“Not only does it provide a great place to purchase artisan wares and sample some amazing local produce, but it gives farmers and small businesses a fantastic opportunity to sell their produce directly to buyers.

“It’s a great social event as well, with the community reconnecting over a cup of coffee & some live music. There has never been a more important time for the community to come together and support one another.”
